Enos was the eldest son and first born child of Albert Namatjira and Rubina (Aboriginal name Ilkalita) who married in about 1919. He was born in 1920 during his parents elopement because tribal laws prevented their marriage. Enos did not start painting seriously until about 1945 after he had been with the Autralian Army Labour Company for 3 years during World War II. He had accompanied Rex Batterbee, watercolour artist on an expedition in 1938, but later developed a style of landscape painting of his own. His Probate record does not give any dates only his death age as 39 [this does not appear to be what it seems like as the same inconsistency is seen for his younger brother Keith whose death age is given on his Probate record as 22 yrs but his biography gives his birth in 1938 and death in 1977!], and at Hermannsburg, which conflicts with a death year of 1966 in the first source article and others of a similar kind including Martin Edmonds thesis. 1966 is the more likely but no actual birth or death records have been found online.
