Biography

Marie Morin was born in 1668 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Pierre (Morin) null and Marie Madeleine (Martin) null.

Marie married 'Jacques (Cocheu) Cochu in 1682.[1]

Marie appeared twice in the 1686 census at Chiqnitou dit Beaubassin.

First, in 1686, at Chiqnitou dit Beaubassin, Marie, aged 18, was living with her parents, Pierre MORIN, aged 51, and Marie MARTIN, aged 44, and her eight siblings: Louis, aged 22, Antoine, aged 20, Anne, aged 16, Jacques, aged 14, Charles, aged 12, Marguerite, aged 10, Jean, aged 8, and Jacques-Francois, aged 3. The family was living on 30 arpents of cultivable land with 15 cattle, 8 sheep, and 12 hogs.
Second, in 1686, at Chiqnitou dit Beaubassin, Marie MORIN, aged 20, was living with her husband, Jacques COCHU, aged 26, and their child, Pierre, aged 6. The family owned 2 guns and was living on 6 arpents of cultivable land with 4 sheep and 6 hogs.[2]

Marie married Jean (Pinet).

Marie died on Mar 30, 1741 in Saint-Nicolas, Canada, Nouvelle-France, aged 72. [3]

Marie Morin, veuve de Cochu, mourut le 30 mars 1741 et fut inhumée le 31 mars 1741 à Saint-Nicolas.
