Amos Morgan lived in German Flatts, Herkimer Co., NY from bef 1800 until 1819, when he and his son David sold their land. At least five of his children, including son in law Able Gifford, moved near Murry, NY.
Amos Morgan was a fifer in Captain Wheeler's Company, 8th Regiment of
Connecticut. He enlisted this service Sept. 8, 1776 and was discharged Nov. 9, 1776. He was a private in Captain Eldridge's Company from Apr. 16, 1777 until Jan . 12, 1778. [1]
The town of Murry once included Sweden, where Amos Morgan died in 1839, Clarendon, where Amos Morgan Rowley met and married Clarissa Preston in 1830, and several other towns. Monroe County was created in
1821 and Orleans County in 1824 from Genesee County.

Amos Morgan had 13 children according to record of Samuel Morgan family in "Pioneer History of Camden Township, Loraine CO. OH"[2]..Samuel was father of Dayton S. Morgan, millionaire of Brockport, NY.
