Under a comic strip based on "Heroes of American History" Eli Hargrave wrote this in a scrapbook he and Effie Hargrave compiled in the 1930's: "This Daniel Morgan is probably grandfather to my grandmother, Nancy Morgan Hargrave as she has related that her grandfather, Daniel Morgan, fought in the War under Washington and said he was whipped for something he was not guilty of, according to his statement. It is in direct line with this picture. (Comic strip) She had a brother named Daniel for his grandfather and one named Charlie. Her father was named Anthony Wayne Morgan. These Morgans were fond of fine horses." This is not documented and is probably just another family "legend" since her grandfather is shown so far as one Charles Morgan.

I am skeptical of the given parents for this Charles Morgan because of the birth dates given. His mother and father would have been about 48 years old when he was born? There is also a 30 year difference between his birth and the claimed sister?

There was a Charles Morgan family that was connected with George Washington over parts of his life time. I had someone give me copies of a letter George Washington sent to a Charles Morgan who was overseeing some property George owned in a "Western Territory". It was written from New York or Philadelphia about the time George was serving as our first president. I also have a copy of a marriage license for this person or his son or father. It was for Charles Morgan and was issued from " His Excellency Thomas Jefferson the Honorable Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia"
