For Morgan as last name of Rachel: In August 1800, William Murphy took out a bond in Harrison County to marry Elizabeth Owen. Owen Owen, Elizabeth's father, was the bondsman. Apparently, William had a change of heart and did not marry Elizabeth. On December 22, 1800, he took out a second bond in Harrison County to marry Hannah Cunningham, daughter of Adam Cunningham and Rachel Morgan. Benjamin Webb, Justice of the Peace, performed the wedding on December 23, 1800.
Thomas Morgan of Bedford County, Virginia, wrote his Will on 1 April 1774 and named a daughter Reachel. His married daughters were named with their married last names; however Reachel was not given another last name. Thus, it can be assumed she was unmarried at the date of the Will. This Rachel Morgan married Adam Cunningham prior to the date of Thomas Morgan's Will. Further analysis: Another Rachel Morgan married John Thomas McClain of Bedford County, Virginia. The McClain families and Thomas Morgan families are listed on the 1810 Census for Bedford, Virginia. Conclusion, Rachel Morgan Cunninham is not the daughter of Thomas Morgan (1702-1774) and his wife Hester Taylor.
