Biography

Isaac was born in 1854. He passed away in 1934. He was the son of Abram [Abraham] Morgan (1820–1872) and Elizabeth Morgan (1828–1909). The Morgans were English immigrants.

In 1860, Isaac (age 6) lived in Sparta, Knox County, Illinois, with his parents, Abram (age 40) and Elizabeth [Elisa] (age 30), and his siblings: Sarah A. (age 11) and baby Joseph. Abram was a coalminer.

In 1870, Isaac (age 15) lived in Wataga, Knox County, with his parents, Abram (age 52) and Elizabeth [Eliza] (age 40), and Joseph (age 10). The family had $1,000 in real estate and $300 in personal property. Abram was a coalminer.

On March 11, 1876, Isaac married Ariel Theodosia Howe in Knox, Knox County. They had two children:

In 1880, Isaac (age 25) farmed in Wataga. He boarded with Ellen Ostrander (age 35) and her daughter Eva (age 12).

Isaac and Ariel divorced in 1881. In 1885, Isaac (age 30) lived in Cincinnati, Appanoose County, Iowa. He boarded in a hotel owned by Albert Root (age 44) and his wife M. Lettie Root (age 40). Also living at the hotel were the Roots' children: Lillie M. (age 15), George W. (age 10), and B. Frank (age 8). The Roots employed housekeeper Mary Fannel (age 17). Isaac was a coalminer.

In 1885, Isaac married Clara Keziah Colton in Cincinnati. They had the following children:

Fred C Morgan 7 April 1888 – 17 January 1960

Clyde H. Morgan 18 January 1892 – 17 February 1989

John "Earl" Morgan 15 January 1895 – 25 June 1972

In 1895, Isaac (age 41) and Clara (age 28) lived in Appanoose County with their children: Minnie (age 9), Fred (age 7), Clyde (age 3), and baby Earl. Isaac was a merchant.

In 1900, Isaac (age 45) and Clara (age 33) operated a grocery in Pleasant Township, Appanoose County, with their children: Minnie (age 14), Fred (age 12), Clyde (age 8), and Earl (age 5).

In 1910, Isaac (age 56) and Clara (age 43) lived in Pleasant with their children: Minnie (age 24) and Earl (age 15). Isaac was a rural mail carrier.

In 1920, Isaac (age 66) and Clara (age 53) lived in Cincinnati. Isaac was a laborer at a poultry farm.

In 1930, Isaac (age 75) and Clara (age 63) lived in Cincinnati. Their home was valued at $1,500. Isaac managed a produce store. Clara was a seamstress.

Isaac died of pneumonia and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.
