Biography

Alice (Morgan) Davies was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Alice Mary was born on the 9 August 1866 in the gold mining Town of Maldon, near the City of Castlemaine, 136 km (85 mi) from the Capital City of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, Australia^[1]. She is the daughter of Henry Parry Morgan (1838-1900) and Alice Trinick (1842-1894), who married on the 1 January 1866 in Richmond, City of Melbourne, Colony of Victoria, Australia^[2].

Alice married Victor Thomas Davies on the 10 August 1893 in Carlton, City of Melbourne, Colony of Victoria, Australia^[3]. The couple had ten (10) children, seven of which were born in Ballarat, Victoria and the youngest three (3), born in Western Australia, Australia:--

1. Elsie (Davies) Mellar (Ca. 1893-1981);
2. Alice Vera Davies (1895-1896);
3. Jack Henry Mortimer Davies (1897-1983);
4. Dorothy Marjory "Marjorie" (Davies) Hoft (1899-1984);
5. Lyla Gwendoline (Davies) Dennis (1900-1931);
6. Edgar Parry Davies (1901-1964);
7. Horace Victor Davies (1903-1996);
8. Dulcie Urania Davies (1905-1925);
9. Albert Tudor Davies (1907-1984); and
10. Frederick Harold Davies (1910-1988).

In 1937, Victor and Alice and various children lived at "Breeon", 102 Raglan Road, in Mount Lawley, Western Australia, where Victor worked as a Carrier^[4]. Victor died in 1943 and Alice continued living at Raglan Road, in Mount Lawley right up until her death.

At the age of 85, Alice passed away at the home of her daughter, 30 Woodville Street, North Perth, in the City of Perth, Western Australia, on the 27 July 1952^[5]. Her burial took place on the 29 July 1952 in the Congregational Portion, Section BA, grave number 312 of the Karrakatta Cemetery and Crematorium, Railway Parade, Karrakatta, City of Perth, Western Australia (with her husband Victor)^[6][7].

To be privately interred at Karrakatta tomorrow (Tuesday). D. J. Chipper and Son. A wonderful mother at rest.^[9].
