Biography

Wesley was born about 1811 at Bedford County, Virginia, United States. [citation needed] He is the son of Mordecai Morgan and Elizabeth Nichols.

He married 1st Lucinda Craghead on 21 December 1844 at Franklin County, Virginia.[1] They had the following children:

  • Columbus S Morgan, born abt 1846

He married 2nd Catherine Saunders (age 20) on 20 July 1854 at Bedford Country, Virginia. She was the daughter of Jno. and Margaret Saunders.[2] They had the following children:

  • Jesse D.m. Morgan, born 7 Aug 1855, Bedford, Virginia.[3]

  • On 29 April 1828, Bedford County Court: Morgan, Mordaica, land div, “whereas Jesse Morgan, Thomas Morgan, and others are Plaintiffs agt. Elizabeth Morgan widow of Mordaica Morgan Dc’d & John Lazenby & others..by the direction of the Commissioners named on said decree, surveyed for the heirs of said Mordaica Morgan Dc’d 1606 1/4 A of land situate in Bedford County on both sides of Hunting Creek and on the North side of Goose Creek. Names: Christopher Morgan, Thomas Morgan, Rebecca Morgan, John Morgan, Catharine Morgan, Wesley Morgan, Elizabeth Morgan(The Dower), Jesse Morgan, Lucy Davis, wife of William T. Davis, and heirs of Permelia Lazenby, who was wife of John Lazenby. [6] Final accounting of the estate of Mordicai Morgan for the period 23 February 1829 thru August 1841 was produced by Christopher Morgan, Administrator, and was ordered to be recorded 22 October 1842. The accounting evidences the names of his spouse and children.[7]
