Biography

Martha (Morgan) Jones was born in Monmouthshire, Wales.

Martha was born at Wales in 1856, the daughter of Richard Morgan and Anne Phillips.^[1]

Martha Morgan married Richard Jones at Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in 1875.^[2]

In 1881, Martha was living at Linthorpe, Yorkshire with Richard and two children.^[3]

1. William Henry.
2. Margaret Annie.

In 1887, the family now including Leonard, Edward and Catherine came to Australia, arriving in Queensland on the 22nd of August 1887. Richard was 36 years and Martha was 30 years. Their children were William 8, Margaret 6, Leonard 4, Edward 2 and Catherine 1. They sailed from London on The 28th of June 1887, on the ship "Bulimba".

The Bulimba was 3000 TONS, her captain was Captain Clarke, Surgeon Dr. Collins and Matron Miss O'Reilly.

Six more children were born at Brisbane.

2. Violet Priscilla, b 1890.
3. John George, b 1893.
4. Olive, b 1895, d 1896. twin.
5. Myrtle, b 1895. twin.
6. Martha Beryl, b 1898.

Martha Christmas Morgan Jones passed away at Brisbane, Queensland in 1913 and was buried in the Toowong Cemetery.^[4][5]
