Biography

John Morgan was born in 1808 in Morgantown, Monongalia County, Virginia], the second of twelve children and the second of six sons of Levi and Elizabeth Graham Morgan.

In 28 March 1835, when he was in his later twenties, he married Mary Ann Gilman in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana].

John Morgan appears in the 1850 United States Federal Census as a widowed "falls pilot" with $4000 in real property, living with an unknown Chamberlain family and three children, one son and two daughters.
