Research Notes

Her birthplace was recorded in the 1891 census as "Finney Compton", I think, and I am fairly sure that means Fenny Compton in Warwickshire, on the borders of Oxfordshire. In the 1911 census, the widowed Margaret Barnfield gave her birthplace as Little Compton, Warwickshire. However, I cannot find any birth registrations at the relevant times in Southam, Chipping Norton, or Banbury registration districts.

I suspect that Warwickshire would be a more accurate birthplace than Oxfordshire.
