George was born about 1828 in Methven, Perthshire, the son of James and Margaret Miller. He was working as an inn keeper "New Farm Inn" and farmer when he married Betsy Bell. George later moved the family to Forteviot, Perthshire where he had a farm of 260 acres and employed 6 people. George and Betsy had six children including well known architect James Miller. George passed away in 1895 according to Ancestry family trees. It may be true. He was alive for the 1891 census and not present for the 1901 census but it would be better to have a death record.
