Biography

Elizabeth, or Betsy as she was known, was the daughter of Robert Bell and Christian Bissett. She married Inn Keeper and farmer George Miller in Auchtergaven, Perthshire in 1853. Betsy and George had six children: James, Robert, Betsy, George, Catherine and Joanna. The family moved to Forteviot, Perthshire where George had a 260 acre farm known as Upper Cairnie. George passed away there around 1895. Betsy was head of the household and still farming according to the 1901 census, still living in the Upper Cairnie Farm house with her children. Her oldest child James Miller, who had become a successful architect, was married and living in Glasgow. A death record for Betsy hasn't been located yet.
