Biography

Matthew Alexander Meacham was born on July 1, 1852, in Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee, the son of Matthew McDonald Meacham and Mary Ann (Cowan) Meacham. His early years were spent in District 3 of Williamson County, Tennessee, as recorded in the 1870 census.

On November 18, 1873, Matthew married Alice Breckenridge Kirby in Williamson County, Tennessee. Together, they built a life centered around farming, a vocation that sustained them and their family for many years. The 1880 census shows them living in District 3 of Williamson County, where Matthew continued his farming endeavors.

Throughout the subsequent decades, their home remained in various districts of Williamson County, and Matthew's commitment to farming persisted. The 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses all reflect his residence in different parts of the county, always engaged in farming to earn a living and support his family.

Matthew Alexander Meacham passed away on April 8, 1934, in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.
