Biography

Early Life

Catherine Cary "Kate" McEwen was born 21 October 1860 in Morris Township, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were John A. McEwen and Elizabeth Catherine (Anderson) McEwen.^[1]

In 1861, Catherine (aged 1) lived in a one story, log house, in Morris, Huron, Canada West, with her parents: John (aged 35), Farmer and Catherine (aged 31), and her sister, Gracey Ann (aged 3).^[2]

In 1871, Cathrine (aged 10) lived in Morris, Huron North, Ontario, Canada, with her parents: John (aged 45), Farmer, and Cathrine (aged 44), and her siblings: Ann (aged 12), Peter (aged 7), Margaret (aged 5), Mary (aged 3), and Duncan (aged 1).^[3]

In 1881, Catherine (aged 20) lived in Morris, Huron North, Ontario, Canada, with her parents: John A. (aged 55) and Catherine (aged 54), and her siblings: Grace J.
