Maria (May) Phillips came free to the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Maria was born in 1818 probably in Oxfordshire in England where her siblings were also born. She is the daughter of Joseph May and Hannah Morris.

Obituary - 12 Oct 1909 The death Is announced at the age of 92 years of Mrs. Maria Phillips, relict of the late Mr. Henry Weston Philips of Coromandel Valley. She arrived in South Australia on September 25, 1839, with her father (Mr. Joseph May) and family. Her sister (Mrs. Lucy Coleman, of Blackwood), is the only surviving member of that family. Her only son is Mr. Charles John Phillips, of Hurd's Hill, Coromandel Valley. The funeral will take place at the Friends' Cemetery, West Terrace, tomorrow afternoon.^[1]
