Martha Manfeyld was born about 1593 according to her age at her 1635 arrival in the Colonies aboard the ship Planter.[1] She arrived with her husband Richard Haffield, his daughters Marie/Mary and Sara by his first wife Judith and three daughters of her own, Martha, Rachel and Ruth.
Martha married Richard Haffield on 13 Jan 1624 at All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk, England.[2] In 1665 an inventory of her Martha's estate was taken and the goods delivered into the care of Thomas Whyte (son-in-law) and then follows a series of court orders until 25 Sep 1666 it is written "widow Martha Halfield [sic] being non compos mentis, Thomas White was appointed...her guardian..."[1]
Martha's will is dated 1662, she died 22 Dec 1667 in Wenham, Essex, Massachusetts Bay colony[3], and her will proved 31 Mar 1668.[4][5] Her estate valued at 349 pound was bequeathed to her daughters with her "much honored friend Mr. Richard Hubbard" executor.[1]
