Biography

Jacob was a Friend (Quaker)

Jacob Maddock was born in Dublin on 3 October 1702 to Quaker parents Hannah Fuller and Joseph Maddock. [1]

His father Joseph Maddock (1669-1716), a fairly wealthy linen draper died when Jacob was 14 and his will provided for Jacob

To my third son Jacob Maddock lands of Lisniskey etc. in King's Co., bought of Charles Lestrange and set by lease to him again.

After his father's death, the family seems to have split from the Quakers. (See his mother's profile.)

On 25 Jul 1720 in the parish of Whitechurch, Wexford, he married Frances, daughter of Nicholas Codd Esq. [2]

A Jacob Maddock, probably him was a defendant (together with his brothers Isaac, Abraham and James and relatives Jane and Abraham Fuller) in a court case in 1725. [3] On 16 June 1732, he signed a deed together with his brothers James, Joseph, Abraham and Isaac. [4]

However, on 8 Oct 1733, Frances Maddock, widow, witnessed a deed involving members of the Codd family. [5] Jacob and Frances must have had children, because when his brother Isaac Maddock (1708-abt.1736) made his will in 1735, it included a provision for The daughters of his brother Jacob Maddock deceased.

Research Notes

His wife was almost certainly the great granddaughter of Nicholas Codd (abt.1610-aft.1661).
