Thank you for your thank you (Anthony Vaughn). My grandson is currently in Nova Scotia going to Dalhousie and loves it. He is from Toronto and I think would rather live in Halifax. My wife and I live in Warminster Pa a suburb of Philadelphia but I am a new Englander and grew up about ten miles from Halifax Ma. My father was a Vaughn and comes from the tree of Vaughns that were loyalists from Rhode Island and were offered land by king George and settled in Chester Nova Scotia around where Peggy's Cove is located. And that is my story.
Thank you for your "thank you". Although I am not a Canadian I have two strong roots to Canada. First, my grandfather, Walter Vaughn was the son of Robert Dolliver Vaughan from Nova Scotia and traces back to John Vaughan 1644 in RI just as your ancestors. Secondly, my daughter married a Canadian from St. John New Brunswick and they currently reside in Toronto . Their son is finishing his first year of university at Dalhaulsie in Halifax a city my daughter considers the "perfect" place to live.
Hi, Hope. I'm sending you a note about my Aunt Shirley Connell. I notice you made a change about her name. I spent a lot of time on the farm .My Uncle Jack always called her Suzy because he had a lisp and couldn't pronounce Shirley. ( when he was about 3 yes old he was standing behind one of my other uncles who was up to bat, swung the bat and knock all of his front teeth out.
Good evening, Hope. Thanks for the acknowledgement on my addition to the tree- Harriet/Hattie Ryan is sort of a brick wall ancestor for me. Would love to know any info if you or your husband have any on her or her relatives. I am newer to geneology, and as such, my tree is a work-in-progress and I welcome any leads.
Do you know if I am related to your husband? I know I have Ryan cousins in both Nova Scotia and Newfoundland but I have hit a wall when researching my ancestors there. My 2great-grandfather Robert Ryan was born in Birchey Cove Newfoundland and his son Robert in Catalina, Newfoundland. I know Robert Ryan Jr.'s wife was was born at Sidney Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Dear Hope, do you have information about other McInnis family members who were in the Chester / Oak Island area prior to 1795? My information has a Donald McInnis purchasing a lot on Oak Island in 1788 (lot 23). Then lot 27 in 1791 and lot 1 in 1794.
MacInnis/McInnis are the same so Donald Daniel McInnis is the person you are referring to . I don’t know when or who changed to MacInnis.
Some generations went with one or the other spellings.
I hope this helps you

Looked at your profile and really like how you have earliest known ancestors setup. I may have to do that. :-)
