Auto biography: I have been interested in family history from an early age with one set of grandparents in Scotland and the other in Yorkshire: each with their stories, memories and some photos and family charts and trees. I met Great Granny Waterhouse when I was 4yrs. She had crossed borders with her Dewsbury accent ...
Post WW 2, my father's job took us up and down what is now known as the East Coast line ( ex LNER and British Rail). Eventually, I settled in Sheffield in the 1970's , having gained a degree in History and further professional qualification in Education and Social Work. The City has provided an excellent base for exploring my Mother's mainly Yorkshire roots . Holidays in Scotland and a visit to Rob Roy's grave in Balquhidder with Grandpa when I as 8yrs encouraged my interest to explore places and ancestors across the border.
I moved on from self employment as a Social Work consultant in 2010. I don't believe in retirement ! Thanks to my Genealogist Cousin, Alex, I joined Wiki Tree in 2018. In pursuit of more details about a gun toting great grandfather, I also joined Ancestry.com and did the DNA test which has confirmed many details on the family charts and introduced me to many ancestors new to me but known to cousin connections.
