Giovanni Lucchese is born and baptized Joannem on 26 February 1852. He is the son of Luciano Lucchese and Lucia Pomilla. HIs godparents are Gioachino Dragna and Lucia Dragna, who are not married.[1]
In 1871, Giovanni's sister, Angela, marries Girolamo Mancuso.
The baptismal records of Giovanni and Liboria Grizzaffi appear together on a certificate in the Catholic Church's 1871 matrimonial records for Corleone. As in a number of other cases, this couple does not celebrate their marriage until 1877.
Giovanni marries Liboria on 29 July 1877. His mother and her father have passed away by this time.[2]
Giovanni and Liboria have at least three children together: Luciano (1878) and two sons named Calogero (1881 and 1883).
The first Calogero dies at two years and one months of age on 9 April 1883. The second is born four months later.
In 1886, Liboria and two young boys arrive in New Orleans. One of them is Giovanni, age six, the son of Giovanni's brother, Vincenzo, who dies in December of that year, after falling from an olive tree.
In 1887, Giovanni's sister, Biagia, marries Giovanni Salvatore Mancuso, Girolamo's brother. Giovanni is a known member of the Fratuzzi in Corleone, around 1900.
