Biography

Mary (Loock) Stielow lived in Ontario.

Mary was born in 1888 in Arnprior, one of three children of Alberta Loock and Augusta Streich. There was a fourth child Henry who had a different father, born before Augusta's marriage to Albert. Mary and her mother contracted Typhoid Fever in 1907. Augusta died but Mary, at age 19, pulled through. The doctor told her father that the reprieve was temporary. She was so weak she wouldn't last into her twenties. Imagine her father's joy that she lived until age 48. Mary worked for the Arnprior Chronicle before marrying Charles Stielow in 1912. The couple had one child, Evelyn, and lived with Mary's widowed father, Albert. Mary passed away suddenly in 1936 of a heart attack while washing the dishes. She was buried in the Albert Street Cemetery in Arnprior, Ontario.
