Biography

Calogero lo Bue is born 12 February 1887 in Prizzi[1], the son of Giovanni lo Bue and Anna Marsala.

Calogero marries Giovanna Lampo, daughter of Pasquale Lampo and Biagia Paternostro, on 1 February 1916.[2] Calogero and Giovanna are second cousins, once removed.

Calogero and Giovanna have at least three children: Anna (c. 1920), named after her paternal grandmother, Giovanni, and Pasquale, named after their paternal and maternal grandfathers, respectively. Families in this region follow a strong naming tradition, and Calogero and Giovanna's children are named in accordance with that practice.

Lo Bue becomes the boss of the Fratuzzi in Corleone around 1930, after a brief period of leadership by Dr. Marcellino Binenti. The previous boss was Angelo Gagliano, a local from a Mafia family, who was assassinated.

Don Calogero appoints Dre. Michele Navarra to succeed him as the boss of the Fratuzzi, the Mafia in Corleone, around 1943. He is already ill from diabetes complications. He steps down from active leadership in 1945.

Anna marries Nicolo’ Pecoraro on 14 April 1945 in Corleone.[3]

Don Calogero lo Bue, gabellotto of the Donna Beatrice estate, dies in 1953. Formal leadership passes to Michele Navarra.[1][4]

Two of Don Calogero's sons, Giovanni and Pasquale, also join the Fratuzzi.[1]

Anna is named in Dino Paternostro's history of mafia resistance in Corleone as a daughter of Don Calogero, married to a 1961 Corleone city councilman, who is part of Dr. Navarra's cosca: Nicolo' Pecoraro. Pecoraro briefly serves as mayor.[5]
