Biography
Santa lo Bello is born around 1875 in Corleone, the daughter of Antonino lo Bello and Caterina Governali, who married the previous year. She is named after her paternal grandmother, as is traditional for the first born daughter.
Her mother, Caterina, has died by 1878, when Antonino remarries to Orsola di Miceli.[1]
Santa is 18 when she marries Calogero Majuri, borgese, age 30, son of the late Ciro Majuri and Antonina lo Curto. Their marriage is announced in the civil record on 25 September 1893.[2]
Calogero and Santa have at least four children: Maria Antonina (1895), Caterina (c. 1905), Ciro (c. 1906), and Vincenzo (1910).
Maria Antonina is born 20 June 1895 and baptized three days later. Her godparents are Francesco Paolo Puccio and Maria Concetta Cascio, a married couple.[3]
Calogero, and his brothers Marco and Pietro, are named among leadership in the Corleonesi Mafia around 1900.[4]
Vincenzo is born 24 February 1910 and baptized on 13 March. His godparents are Leoluca Criscione and Leoluchina Terrusa, a married couple.[5]
Caterina marries Angelo Vintaloro on 25 October 1925 in Corleone.[6]
Ciro marries Rosa Marsala on 7 February 1926.[7]
Santa's nephew, Vincenzo Guarino, is named among the victims of the Navarra-Leggio War in Corleone.[8]
