Biography

Carolyn Lewis was born in 1938 in Berwyn, Cook County, Illinois, United States.^[1] She was the fourth and youngest child of Gilbert Lewis Sr and Margie (Hevenor) Lewis.

In the 1940 census Caroline (age 2) was the daughter of Gilbert H Lewis in La Grange, Cook, Illinois, United States.^[2]

In the 1950 census Carolyn (age 12) was the daughter of Gilbert H Lewis in La Grange, Cook, Illinois, United States.^[3]

Carolyn attended Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Cook County, Illinois, graduating with honors in 1956. She received her BA in religion from Wooster College, Ohio, in 1960.

Carolyn first married G Ireland on 27 Jun 1958 in La Grange Illinois. They had three sons together, all living in 2023. The couple separated in 1967 and divorced on 10 Nov 1970 in Lee County, FL. After their separation, Carolyn earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State University in Detroit. She taught elementary students in Clintondale Schools in Macomb County for more than thirty years until her retirement.

Carolyn second married John Sollenberger on 2 Oct 1971 in Mt. Clemens, Macomb County, Michigan. They had one son, J Sollenberger. They were married for more than thirty years. They eventually divorced for financial reasons, but Carolyn continued as his primary caregiver until John's death in 2018.

Carolyn married third to David Scott Kordt (1939-2020) on 24 October 2009. David had two adult daughters from a previous marriage.

Carolyn passed away on 29 Nov 2021 in Novi, Oakland County, Michigan six months after a debilitating stroke.^[4]
