Relying on the history of the colonization of the region, Pierre would have come to settle in the late 1880s. was remarried with Cyprien Gauthier and they were owners and managers of the Grand Hotel in Wahnapitae. Pierre and Célina were hotel employees. For her part, Célina came to settle in Wahnapitae, probably in 1888. She worked as a servant at the hotel. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Wahnapitae.

The 1891 census indicates that Pierre and Célina live in what is now considered Wahnapitae (Ontario). Their residence is next to the hotel. They are parents of two children: Omer and Hermina. Their first five children were born in Wahnapitae, but they were baptized in the parish of Sainte-Anne des Pins in Sudbury, because there was no Catholic parish in Wahnapitae."
