Jacques was born in Montreal on January 31, 1763, son of Jacques Joseph Lapage Roy and Marie Josephe Poirier. He was baptized the next day at Notre-Dame-de-Montréal. His godparents were Jacques Fortier and Marguerite Baudrias.[1]
