Biography

Vincenzo Leggio (or "lo Liggio") is a Corleone native resident, the son of Gaspare lo Liggio and Maria Scalisi. I have estimated Vincenzo is 20 years old (b. 1747) when he marries.

Vincenzo marries Bernarda Grizzaffi on 28 November 1767. His parents are living at this time.[1]

Vincenzo and Bernarda have at least fourteen children together: Maria (c. 1770), Paolo (c. 1774), Angela (1775), Liborio (1777), Francesco Paolo (1780), Bernardo (c. 1780), Rosa (1781), Biagio (1784), Liboria (1786), Leoluchina (1788), Luca (1790), Gaspare (1793), Giuseppa (1794), and Francesca Maria (1797).

I have estimated Maria and Biagio are 20 years old when they marry.

Paolo and Bernardo's birth years are based on their reported ages at death.

Angela is born and baptized 17 April 1775. Her godparents are Maestro Salvatore Petrusa and Biagia Fruja ("Frija"), who is unmarried.[2]

Liborio is born 14 September 1777 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Vincenzo and Lucia Adorno, a married couple.[3]

Francesco Paolo is born and baptized 3 March 1780. His godparents are Innocenzo and Domenica Pennino, mother and son.[4]

Rosa is born and baptized 26 December 1781. Her godparents are Domenico and Gaetana Trapani, a married couple.[5]

Biagio is born and baptized 18 May 1784. His godparents are Francesco and Santa Genualdo, a married couple.[6]

Liboria is born 29 May 1786 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Calogero Oddo, who is unmarried, and Biagia Mannina, wife of Andrea.[7] Biagia is Liboria's great-aunt.

Leoluchina is born 2 June 1788 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Notary Don Filippo lo Piccolo and Rosa Friia, wife of Paolo.[8]

Maria marries Calogero Oddo on 6 June 1790.

Luca is born 5 November 1790 and baptized two days later. His godparents are his maternal uncle and aunt, Luca and Ignazia Grizzaffi, brother and sister, both unmarried.[9]

Gaspare is born and baptized 13 January 1793, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Don Antonino Restivo and Donna Carmela Quinci.

Giuseppa Maria is born and baptized 25 October 1794. Her godparents are Bernardo and Maria Mistritta, brother and sister, who are both unmarried.

Angela marries Giuseppe Mannina on 27 September 1795.

Bernardo is an agricoltare (farm manager). He marries Calogera Randisi on 12 January 1796.

Francesca Maria is born and baptized 17 October 1797. Her godparents are Don Carmelo and Donna Girolama Marullo, a married couple.

Rosa marries Salvatore Piazza on 2 February 1802.

Five days later, Liborio marries Rosalia Lisotta. Vincenzo and Bernarda are both still living.

Bernarda dies at age 53 (b. 1750) on 30 July 1803. Vincenzo survives her.

Liboria marries twice, first to Calogero Maringo when she is 15 or 16, on 24 February 1805.

Biagio marries Anna Gagliano, a widow, on 9 May 1807.

Leoluchina marries Antonino Ditta on 26 November 1809.

Leoluca marries Antonia Cannella on 12 February 1816.

Paolo marries the same year to Marianna di Miceli, a widow, on 24 April.

A little over a month later, Paolo dies at around age 42 (b. 1774) on 4 June 1816. His wife survives him.

Giuseppa marries Bernardo Rumore on 4 May 1817. Vincenzo is still living.

Liboria marries for the second time to Biagio Randisi, Calogera's brother, on 13 September 1823. Vincenzo has died by this time.

Bernardo dies at age 46 (b. 1780) on 22 March 1826, survived by his wife, Calogera.

Biagio dies suddenly at age 40 (b. 1793) on 28 May 1833, survived by this wife, Anna.

Angela dies at age 60 (b. 1774) on 9 April 1834, the widow of Giuseppe.

Giuseppa dies three months later at age 39 on 11 July 1834. Her husband, Bernardo, survives her.

Liborio dies, reportedly at age 58 (he is 66) on 27 July 1844. He is married to Rosalia Lisotta.

Leoluca dies at age 70 (b. 1783) on 6 March 1853. He is survived by his wife.

Liboria dies at age 65 (b. 1789) on 25 July 1854. She is survived by her second husband, Biagio.

Rosa dies at age 81 on 9 January 1863, the widow of Salvatore.
