I began doing Genealogy in 2015, primarily using Ancestry.com where my tree is the Lawton Hartmann Family Tree (public). I presently (2021) teach Genealogy to senior citizens at a continuing ed program in New Orleans called People Program where I concentrate on giving information about tools available on Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org and other computer genealogy programs, including helping my students understand DNA and it's usefulness in finding ancestors, family members and contemporary cousins.

Hi Phyllis,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile. Jenny ~ WikiTree Pre-1700 Greeter

Thank you for your welcome message. I am enjoying WikiTree very much. And I find that the genealogists are so gracious and helpful. I am actually going to give an introduction to WikiTree to my genealogy class that I teach- the class is primarily taught using the tools of Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. What I am finding is that the community tree embodied in WikiTree is educative with mentoring being emphasized and promoted. I'm sure that I'll be asking for your help soon. Phyllis
