John Latter was born in 1845 in Herring Cove, Halifax County, Nova Scotia to Thomas Latter and Julia Ann Turner.
He was a mariner and a stevedore.
John married widow Elizabeth (Edwards) Perrin in 1868 in Halifax.[1] They raised 5 children they had together in Halifax and Pictou County, plus Elizabeth's one surviving son from her first marriage.
He died in 1926 in Halifax,[2] and is buried in St. John's Cemetery and Columbarium.[3][4]
