Biography

Elizabeth was a Friend (Quaker)
Elizabeth Knox was born was born 30 November 1738[1] in Rich Square Township, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Thomas Knox and Mary Reynolds.[1] She died in Jefferson County Tennesse.[2]
Elizabeth and Thomas Davis married 5 July 1758 in Perquimans, North Carolina.[2]
Thomas Davis was born to Charles Davis and Hannah Matson Davis, 18 January 1734 in Goshen, Chester County Pennsylvania[3] and died approximately 1804 in Montgomery County Virginia.
Elizabeth seems to have moved to Tennessee to live with a daughter. This daughter, Mary Davis, born 1762, was married twice, 1) to Benjamin Duncan in 1776, and 2) to James Williams on 1 Nov 1783 in New Garden MM in North Carolina. Since Mary died at Frost Bottom, Anderson, Tennessee, this may also be where her mother, Elizabeth Knox, also died.[3]

Research Notes

An image has been added to Meriam Knox's profile and also to the profile of Elizabeth Knox Davis which shows the birth dates for the John Knox family and the Thomas Knox family, taken from Rich Square Meeting records. The families are recorded together and most likely are related, but unproven at this time. [1][4]
This profile has apparently been merged several times. Provided sources still need to be verified.
