Joseph Knight was born in 1680 in Gloucestershire, England. He was the oldest child and oldest son of Giles Knight Jr. and his wife, Mary (English) Knight. The family were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and personally acquainted with William Penn, the Quaker founder and proprietor of the new English colony of Pennsylvania, in America, in the early 1680s.
1682: Joseph arrived with his parents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania aboard HMS Society.[1]
1715: December 1: Married Abigail Antill in a Quaker ceremony in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Joseph passed away in 1762.
