Dan Christie Kingman was born in 1852 to John William Kingman and Mary Spaulding Christie.[1]
Dan married Eugenia Jennings and they had four children.[2]
Brigadier General Dan Christie Kingman is a former head of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.[3]
Kingman Park in Washington, DC, is named for him as are nearby Kingman Island and Kingman Lake.[3]
Kingman Pass el. 7,119 feet (2,170 m) is a mountain pass between Terrance Mountain and Bunsen Peak on the Grand Loop Road (U.S. Route 89), just south of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. The pass is named for Lieutenant Dan Christie Kingman of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Kingman rebuilt this difficult portion of the Grand Loop Road in the area known as The Golden Gate in 1883.[4]
Dan Kingman died in 1916[1][5] and is buried in the Arlington National Cemetery.[6]
