Biography

John was the eldest son of William Kinge of Skircoat, Halifax, Yorkshire, and was named in William's will 1554 as "my eldest sonne".^[1] Although John received furniture and some small bequests, the will is mainly concerned with his younger brothers James and William, so John had probably already been provided for.

Research Notes

Possible marriages at Halifax - 1) to Johanna Hemingway 21 May 1543.^[2][3] Although early, his birth is a rough estimate and could well have been a few years earlier. 2) to Sibella Wilkinson 16 January 1547/1548.^[4] A William Wilkinson of Skircoat witnessed his father's will.

Possible burials - 5 September 1557, John Kynge of Southowram.^[5]
