Charles King was born to unknown parents, likely in England, before 1636.[1] By 1656, Charles had settled in Lancaster County, Virginia Colony, which taxed him based on his labor force, assessing him for two tithables, 5 Nov 1656,[2] for one tithable, 16 Dec 1657,[3] again for one tithable, 31 Oct 1658,[4] for two tithables, 30 Nov 1659,[5] and for two tithables, 15 Nov 1660.[6]
