Lena (King) Toney is a part of US Black heritage.

Birth and Family

Lena was born about 1895, February 29. According to Ancestory.com her parents are Primus King and Parthenia Jordan. She was born in Russell, Alabama.

Marriage and Family LIfe

Arthur Toney married Lena King on 27 December 1916 in Russell, Alabama.^[1]

In 1920, Arthur Toney, 25, is married to Lena, 24, for perhaps 3 years. Their oldest child, Mary is 2 years and 0 months old and their youngest child is 11 months old at the time of the census in January 1920. Living with them is Arthur's younger sister, Emma Toney, age 10. Arthur and Lena are farming. Perhaps Emma is helping with the children. ^[2]

On 17 June 1934, the couple's one year old son, Joseph Henry Toney died. He was one year, one month and 27 days old. ^[3]

On 1936 the couple's nine year old son, Arthur Toney Jr. , born in 1927, died. The family was living in Fairfield, Jefferson, Alabama. ^[4]

Their daughter, Ann Ruth Toney, 18, married Grover Bass, 23 in Etowah, Alabama on 3 January 1941. Grover's parents are James Bass and Maude Smith.^[5]

In 1950, the family is in Fairfield, Alabama. Arthur,55, is working as a blacksmith helper in the steel mill. ^[6]

In 1957, Athur and Lena's daughter Ethel L. Toney, born about 1931, died.^[7]

On 20 July 1963, Katharine D. Toney, their 25 y.o. daughter married Eddie Ford. His father is Ira Ford and his mother is Annie B. Pippin. ^[8]

On 9 September 1992, their daughter Martha Toney Morris died. Her last residence was Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States. ^[9]

Death and Burial

Lena King Toney died on 2 May 1984 in Fairfield, Jefferson, Alabama. She is buried in New Grace Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA. ^[10]
