Elbert was born in 1888 in Pueblo, Colorado.
In 1911, Elbert married Kathleen Miller in St. Joseph, Missouri. They had at least three children.
He passed away in 1974.

Services for Dr. Elbert Rife King, 86, of 11490 King Way, who died Saturday at his home after a long illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cloverdale Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Roy E. Howes of the First United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
Born Nov. 21, 1888, in Pueblo, Colo., he received a civil engineering degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. He married Kathleen H. Miller on Sept. 10, 1911, in St. Joseph, Mich. In 1920, he established, the first hospital at Nevada, Mo., and practiced medicine there until retiring in 1952. That year, he and his wife came to Boise, where he has been in the dairy and motel industries. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons.
Survivors are his wife of Boise; three daughters, Mrs. H. Eaton of Boise, Mrs. Bert Carothers of Drummond Island, Mich., and Mrs. Mel Zack of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. D. Brahmia of Milwaukee, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
