Charles was born in 1879. Charles King is the son of of Elmore Yokum King and Martha Ann Brubaker. He passed away in Mound Park Hospital in 1957.

Charles was a Private in the US Army, Company F, 6th Ohio Volunteer in the Spanish-American War.

When Charles married his second wife Josie, she felt the children were too much for her to handle so they were placed in the Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphans' Home in Xenia, Ohio, where they lived until they graduated high school and went out into the world on their own.
