Biography

This profile is part of the St Helens, Lancashire One Place Study.

Mary King was christened on 30 Apr 1834 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary King. Her father's occupation was recorded as tool maker, and the family's address as Eccleston.

By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Eccleston Lane Ends. Mary's father was a journeyman toolmaker; her brothers John and Henry were apprentice toolmakers.

By March 30th 1851, Mary may have been living in Liverpool with her mother; if so, both were working as rag dealers and the birthplaces of both are incorrect.
