Biography

Henry King was christened on 29 Oct 1826 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. He was the son of Henry and Mary King. His father's occupation was recorded as tool maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Eccleston Lane Ends. Henry's father was a journeyman toolmaker; his sons John and Henry were apprentice toolmakers.

Henry's father died in 1843, and was buried on 7 May 1843 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His age was recorded as 40, and his address as Eccleston.

Henry married Elizabeth Howell on 27 Jan 1850 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were living in Prescot, and neither had been married before; Henry was 23 and a tool maker, Elizabeth was 26. Their fathers were named as Henry King (tool-maker) and William Howell (gardener). The witnesses were John King and Margaret King [Henry's elder brother and his wife].

By March 30th 1851, Henry and Elizabeth were living in Lane Ends, Eccleston with their baby son William. Henry was a watch tool maker.
