Biography
James was born in 1879 at Appleby, Richmond, Nelson. [1] He was the son of William King and Betsy Smart, [2] who lived at Richmond, Nelson, New Zealand. [3]
He was a founding member and captain of the Motueka Volunteer Fire Brigade. [1]
In 1902 he married Violet Goodman. [4]
He passed away 30 August 1939 at Nelson Hospital. He was survived by children: [1] [5] Mrs R. Sinclair (Motueka), Mrs Robert Fry (Riwaka), Mrs J. Murdoch (Wellington), Miss Violet King (Motueka), Charles, Ervine. Harold (Motueka), and Leo (Wellington).
