Biography

Miles was born in 1824 in Virginia. He was the son of William King and Esther (Shivers) King. Note: though he is a year younger in the 1850 census[1][2][3][4]

When Miles was about 24 he married Frances Lewis Fox on 26 December 1848 in York County, Virginia.[5]

On 21 September 1850 Miles (age about 26) was living in James River District, Elizabeth City County, Virginia. Note: a carpenter.[6]

DEATH OF M. H. KING
He Will be Buried in the Churchyard at Hampton.
M. H. King, an aged white man died at his home on 43rd street at anearly hour yesterday morning of congestion of the lungs.
The funeral will take place from the residence this afternoon and the interment will be made in the old Baptist Churchyard at Hampton where his wife is buried. Special arrangements have been made for the burial of the deceased by his wife's side, the old churchyard having been abandoned several years ago.
The Rev. J. W. Porter, pastor of the Newport News Baptist church, will conduct the funeral service.
