King-64136 and King-2818 are not ready to be merged because: I think these are the same people. Much of my information is different than that of the other Abraham King, but the parents are the same. Perhaps someone has more information and they can assist?

Hi, Jodie.

I saw your merge proposal because I am a Project Leader for the New Netherland Project.

To ensure accuracy, we try to develop profiles on the basis of primary records and other reliable sources, rather than people's family trees. The sources you cited appear to be the names of databases on Ancestry.com. I looked on Ancestry and elsewhere for records corresponding to the data on these two profiles (not an exhaustive search, just trying to figure out what these profiles are about). I found and added a baptism record to profile King-2818; it firms up what we know about the child baptized in 1755. Following Dutch custom, he was named for his paternal grandfather.

I found indication of another Abraham, born about 1764, who seems to have been a first cousin of the Abraham baptized in 1755 (and named or the same paternal grandfather). That cousin born in 1764 was suggested to be the Abraham who was married on 16 April 1785 at the Acquackanonk (modern-day Passaic) Reformed Church to Elizabeth Spier (not Ann Day Fowler).

I also found records for the marriage and death of Ann Fowler, which I added to her profile.

It was not apparent from what I've seen that the Abraham Koning, son of Johannes and Rebecca, who was baptized in 1755 was the same person as Abraham King who married Ann Fowler in 1785. Did you have some evidence for this that I failed to find?

I really don't have anything. It is a new line on my tree for me and I got myself very confused. I was hoping someone else might be able to help me straighten the Abrahams out. I will go back to my tree and see if the cousin is a better fit. Thank you so much for looking at it for me!

King-64136 and King-2818 do not represent the same person because: They are possibly 1st cousins.

It's also possible that this is an entirely different Abraham King. Abraham married Ann Fowler in Trinity Church, which was Anglican. That leads me to think that Ann Fowler was English, and maybe the Abraham that she married also was English.

I think you are right! I went back through everything there are no valid sources to prove any connections. I really had to back track. It is officially a brick wall now!
