Joseph (age 27), son of Benjamin King, married Edna Miller, daughter of Moses, on 22 March 1869 at St. Mark's Church in Dukinfield, Cheshire, England.[1] Together, they had one son, Benjamin, prior to his death.[2]
Joseph worked as a miner at the Astley Deep Pit Colliery where he was killed in a terrible explosion 4 March 1870. [3]
Research Notes
It was thought by a previous researcher that Joseph King was the son of Joseph King, Esq. & Elizabeth Haselden who was born in Old Swinford, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom. That child lived until 1916, primarily in Worcestershire with no evidence of living in Lancashire or Cheshire, explaining why it was difficult to find his wife & child, previously.
His marriage registration indicates his father was Benjamin King, a striker. No record of him living with his family has been located (1851-1861 census records)
