Biography
William was born about 1870 in Victoria Australia. He was the son of Thomas King and Mary Baker.
In March 1870 William and his family relocated to Stirling Castle in Scotland where his father's battalion was to be garrisoned.
In 1875 he traveled to New Zealand on board the Alumbagh. His father died on the ship. His mother remarried.
He married Kate Jackson in 1898. She was the daughter of Mr Fredrick Jackson and Mrs Eliza Jackson (born Harper) Kate was born 1873 and died in 1959.
They had at least six children:
- Arthur Burgess King 1899 - 1949
- Winifred Mary 1900 - 1960
- Doris Lillian Edward [born King] 1903 -1977
- Trevor William 1907 - 1907
- Elsie Myrtle 1909 - 1969
- George Raymond 1911 -1944
William died in 30 Aug 1919 at the age of 49.
