Peter Larason Key married Lucy Seward (born in 1813, VA) on 21 Jan. 1830 in Alabama . [1]They then moved to Lawrence County, AL, bought a farm and raised 4 children. Lucy Seward Key contracted an illness, not sure what, and was bedridden for 7 years before her death in Sep of 1850. Peter Key then married Eliza J. Terry. They had no more children. Peter died 15 Nov. 1879.[2]
Peter Key had the following four children[5] by his first wife Lucy Seward (none by his second wife):
Henry J. Key, b. 1832 in Lawrence County, AL, married Eliza Jane Heflin Oct 3, 1852, in Lawrence Co., and died in 1864 in Tennessee. I understand he was in the Civil War working on the railroad and he got the measles and died.[5]
Sarah Elizabeth Key was the second child. She was born in 1836, also in Lawrence Co., AL, married William A. "Billy" Pickens on July 23, 1865 (in Lawrence Co.) and I don't have a death date for her, but she was buried in the Washer Cemetery in Lawrence Co.[5]
Catherine Boseman Key was born Sep 3, 1841, in Lawrence Co., married John Louis Heflin Jan. 6, 1861 (in Lawrence Co.) and died Oct. 26, 1913.[5]

Paternal line Y-chromosome DNA test-takers:
In researching Peter Larason Key I have found many instances where his middle name was spelled "Larson". I have no idea where the spelling for this originated, but I have continued to use the Larason spelling because Peter's mother's maiden name was Larason. She was from New Jersey.
PPS - Although I detached the profile of Turner-3702 as Peter's wife based on datafield info (Peter d 1837), information available also supports detaching her if Peter did not die until 1879 (as stated in text). This later death date does not preclude him from having married a third time in 1857. It does however, preclude Turner-3702 from marrying James Graham in 1860 if she married Peter (d 1879) in 1857.
When I saved the post-merge cleanup, I received a warning:
Warning: Check the dates.
A marriage date should not be after a spouse's death date.
This supports Barbara's comments that Peter Larason Key did not marry a third time & Elizabeth Jenetta Turner is not his wife (married 13 Nov 1857 in Lawrence, Alabama, when Peter died 10 Sep 1837). Therefore, I'll detach her profile from his.
I have a question about this. I show that Peter Larason Key married Lucy Seward (born in 1813, VA) on 21 Jan. 1830 in Va. They then moved to Lawrence County, AL, bought a farm and raised 4 children (I have their names). Lucy Seward Key contracted an illness, not sure what, and was bedridden for 7 years before her death in Sep of 1850.
I show that Peter Key then married Eliza J. Terry. They had no more children. Peter died 15 Nov. 1879.
I have been researching these Keys since 1973 and have never heard of Elizabeth Jenetta Turner.
I would appreciate some discussion on this before I try to merge my Peter Larason Key to this group, even though I do believe he is the same fellow. Thank you.
