Biography

Obituary, Vienna, Missouri newspaper - 1924: " On Tuesday evening, March 18th, 1924, Hy Kemna departed from this life, after an illness of ten days, of pleuro-pneumonia. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 20th at St. Lawrence Church. A Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Father Bruch. The deceased was 45 years, 10 months and 8 days old at the time of his death. He was born and reared in the neighborhood where he died. On Oct. 13th, 1903, he was united in matrimony with Miss Angela Rehagen. To this union were born 7 children. The oldest being 18 years and the youngest 5 years old. All the children and the mother survive to mourn his loss. The premature death of this honorable man is deeply regretted. As a citizen he was in the front ranks. In all his dealings, he was ever known to be sincere, and an honest man. As a countryman, he was patriotic and unafraid. His family life was an exemplification of a true and faithful husband and father. He died well fortified with the last rites of Holy Mother Church. May he rest in peace."
