Biography

Cecily was the daughter and co-heiress of William Kelke[1][2] and Thomasine Skerne. She was born before 1552.[3][4] Her birthplace is uncertain: her father had property in Lincolnshire but was also a London mercer.

Cecil was a minor when her mother's Will was proved in 1566: an administrator was appointed for her and her sister Elizabeth during their minority.[3][4][5]

Cecily married John Farrer[1][6] at St Sepulchre's without Newgate, London. Their marriage licence was dated 26 August 1574[2][3][4] and describes her as a spinster of the parish.[7][8] They had four sons, all named in their father's Will:[9]

Joseph Foster's Pedigrees of the County Families of Yorkshire lists another son, Charles:[6] if this is right, he presumably died before his father made his Will as he is not named in it.[9]

Cecily is not named in the Will of her husband (dated 14 November 1627 with a codicil of 24 April 1628),[3][4][9] so probably died before then.
