According to her conduct record Mary was convicted in Warwick County 25 March 1841. She was transported on the Navarino, departing London 9 Oct 1840[1] She arrived in Tasmania 17th January, 1841. The Convict Records website says she was convicted at York, Kingston upon Hull Quarter Sessions, receiving a sentence of ten years.[2] Yet another source Mary "was tried at Clare on the 27th February 1849 and was sentenced to 10 years for stealing a sheep with felonious intent. " and "born Abt. 1821 in Ireland, and died 08 Jan 1865 in Hobart Hospital." [3] This same source believes she is the same person as Mary Cooley who married a Matthew Blackham in 1853 but was said to be age 43 at the time when, if it is the same man, his age should have been given as around 57-58.
Mary received her "Certificate of Freedom Granted" in April 1850[4]
She is thought to have married Mathew Blackham 26/12//1853[5] Records supporting this not yet found
