William Joice was born in Virginia.
William Joice was a lifelong resident of Washington, D.C..

William Harold Joice was born on 7 August 1897 in Richmond, Virginia, the son of Bertie Lee Tinsley Walton and James Edward Joice.

His father James Edward Joice Sr worked as a messenger and doorkeeper for the US Supreme Court from about 1899 until shortly before his death in 1948.[1]

In the 1910 census, William was 12 years old and living with his parents, brother, grandmother, aunt, and uncle in Washington, DC.[2]

In 1919, he followed his father and grandfather into a career working for the US Supreme Court, although he yearned to be an interior designer or architect.[3]

He married Lillian Mary Morgan on 15 April 1920 in Alexandria, Virginia.[4]

In the 1920 census, he was living with his parents, brother, sister, and grandmother in Washington, DC.[5]

He passed away in September 1977 in Washington, DC, and was cremated.[6]
